We don't just provide home loans to our clients, we provide them with the lowest interest rates and highest level of customer service in the industry. David Powell, President & Sr. Mortgage Consultant
David is a Indianapolis native and Indiana University Alumnus now living in Carmel, Indiana.  He has over 20 years of experience as a mortgage broker with a primary focus on purchase mortgages.  He prides himself on providing a superior client experience through the mortgage process with comprehensive communication and education.  Unsatisfied with other brokers and loan officers placing profits above all else, David opened Powell Home Mortgage in 2016 with a “Client First” mantra.  He truly believes that a client’s best interest should supersede everything when they are making one of the most important financial decisions in their life.  When not serving his clients, David spends his time boating and fishing on Sweetwater Lake with his wife, daughter, and their two dogs.        



Dakota Baisa, Sr. Mortgage Consultant
Born and raised in Indianapolis, Dakota attended North Central High School and later IU Indianapolis to obtain her B.S. in Psychology. Having an entrepreneurial spirit, she started, owned, and operated a residential and commercial cleaning business while in college. She ran that business, along with a dozen employees, successfully for nearly a decade before getting into the mortgage industry in February of 2019.
Dakota’s strong interpersonal skills allow her to build lasting relationships with her clients and effectively communicate with them the ins and outs of the loan process. She is passionate about giving consumers an honest and integrity-driven mortgage experience, seeking out the lowest rates available and putting her client’s best interest above all else.
When not writing loans, you’d probably catch Dakota on a baseball field somewhere in Indiana or the surrounding states with the 17U team that she has coached since 2011. She also prides herself as mom, runner, endurance athlete, amateur hiker/adventurer and avid lover of life!

Anisa Baisa, Office Manager
Anisa was born and raised on the northside of Indianapolis. With a Bachelor's in Communication Studies from IU Indianapolis, she began her professional career with a focus in customer service and sales. Her drive for providing unparalleled customer service and an employer whose ethics aligned with her own brought her to Powell Home Mortgage.
Anisa’s belief is that the most valuable work skill to have is simply the mindset to do your best because when one does, not only do clients receive exceptional care, but you have a sense of accomplishment in yourself and your work.
In her spare time, Anisa enjoys baking with her daughter and husband, exercising, and everything true crime!

Ryan Powell, Mortgage Consultant
Although Ryan hails from Indiana, those who know him would say he was always meant for Florida. After relocating to Gainesville in 2014, he began his career as a physical therapist, where he grew into a leadership role defined by empathy, precision, and a relentless focus on improving the lives of others.
Ryan’s foundation, however, is deeply rooted in business. A graduate of Indiana University with a degree in Business Economics & International Business, he has started and operated multiple businesses over the years. Transitioning into the mortgage industry allowed him to combine his analytical background, entrepreneurial mindset, and passion for service to help clients navigate one of life’s most significant financial decisions.
In healthcare, Ryan specialized in patient-centered care, making clinical decisions based on the whole individual, not just the diagnosis. He brings that same philosophy to mortgage lending, guiding clients through the home financing process with clarity, strategy, and a long-term financial perspective.
Outside of work, Ryan enjoys cooking for his family, running, biking, swimming, and spending time tending to his tropical garden.

Cruz Baisa, Mortgage Consultant
Cruz Baisa cares about people.  He is passionate about helping his clients move forward with confidence when making one of the most important financial decisions of their lives.  He works closely with buyers of all types, guiding them through the mortgage process with clarity, transparency, and practical insight.
Before entering the mortgage industry, Cruz spent 15 years at a Fortune 200 company focused on process improvement, design thinking, and operational excellence.  He is active in his community volunteering with and leading multiple non-profits and programs.  Cruz is intensely curious and loves to learn new skills and new perspectives.  Drawing on a rich experience, he brings a personable, attentive and analytical approach to helping clients understand their options and secure the customized mortgage that best fits their needs.
Cruz was born and raised in Indianapolis; educated in Bloomington; and has lived in Columbus for more than a decade.  He enjoys spending time with his family, cooking, gardening, golfing, and reading.  He and his wife are proud parents of a three-year old girl who is growing up too fast.

Mariel Bates, Loan Officer Assistant
Mariel was born and raised on the East Coast in New Jersey.  After graduating from Purdue University in 2020 with a degree in Communications, she found her way to downtown Indy and has been there ever since.  She began her career doing HR and administrative work for an IndyCar team.  Although she loved the excitement of the industry, she wanted to grow her professional path in a new direction.  She is now assistant to our Sr. Mortgage Consultant, Dakota Baisa.  She believes that clear communciation and genuine connection are the foundations of great client experience.  Mariel brings a solutions-oriented approach to every interaction and is committed to helping clients feel confident and cared for throughout the mortgage process.  In her free time she enjoys a good book, baking, hiking and a workout class!
